Call for Papers
AITC 2027 invites submissions presenting novel work at the intersection of AI transparency, agent behavior, and safety. Every submission goes through double-blind peer review, and authors of accepted work present at the conference in Nuremberg, Germany.

Scope
AITC 2027 is organized around three interconnected themes. We welcome contributions that span multiple themes or propose new perspectives on these challenges.
Agent Behaviour & Collaboration
Methods for observing, measuring, and characterizing the behavior of autonomous AI agents, including multi-agent interactions and emergent collaboration patterns.
Transparency & Interpretability
Techniques for making AI decision-making processes legible to humans — from mechanistic interpretability to explanation interfaces and audit tools.
AI Control & AI Safety
Frameworks and mechanisms for maintaining meaningful human oversight of AI systems, including alignment verification, safety testing, and governance protocols.
Submission Types & Format
The submission format for AITC 2027 is expected to follow AITC 2026. The definitive requirements will be published with the official call and in the author guidelines.
Extended Abstracts
Submissions are extended abstracts with a main text of at most 2 pages. References may use additional pages, and an optional appendix may follow — all combined into a single PDF. Everything essential to evaluating the contribution must fit in the main body.
Official LaTeX Template
Submissions must use the official AITC LaTeX template, based on the acmart document class (sigconf format with the nonacm option). The AITC 2027 template will be released together with the official call.
Anonymous Submission
The template is pre-configured for anonymous submission. Do not include author names, affiliations, or funding details, and refer to your own prior work in the third person. Supporting material such as code or data must be fully anonymized as well.
Further policies to expect
- Accepted work is expanded for the camera-ready version — at AITC 2026 the main body was typically 8–12 pages, with a hard limit of 20 pages including references and appendices.
- Work already published or accepted at an archival venue may not be submitted, and parallel submission to another archival venue is not permitted. Earlier workshop presentations and preprints (e.g., arXiv) are fine.
- When a large language model plays a substantial role in shaping the research or generating significant portions of the text, an “LLM Usage Disclosure” section is required. LLMs cannot be listed as authors, and prompt injection aimed at automated review tools leads to desk rejection.
- An optional, short Ethics Statement is encouraged where the work raises ethical questions, and authors are encouraged to take concrete steps toward reproducibility.
Review Process
All submissions go through a strict double-blind peer review: neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities at any point during review. Submissions are handled through OpenReview — the venue link for AITC 2027 will be announced with the official call. Every author on a submission needs an active OpenReview account; signing up with an institutional email address activates the account immediately.

Publication
Accepted papers are published in the AI Transparency Journal (AITJ), the journal of the AI Transparency Conference.
New Voices Poster Session
Alongside the main call, AITC 2026 ran the New Voices poster session — a dedicated track for first-time and early-career presenters. It offered a low-barrier way to present work at the conference, with its own submission form and deadline outside the main review process.
A New Voices session is planned to return for AITC 2027. The format and submission details will be announced together with the official call.
